Cortez Elementary: First Day of School
Dear Cortez Families,
We are excited to welcome our students back to school tomorrow for the first day of the new school year!
As you prepare for tomorrow morning, please review these important reminders:
🚗 Leave Early & Plan for Traffic
The first day of school is always especially busy. Please leave home earlier than usual and allow extra time for traffic, parking, and drop-off so your student can arrive on time and start the day successfully.
🥞 Breakfast Begins at 7:10 a.m.
Our cafeteria opens at 7:10 a.m. for students who would like to enjoy free breakfast.
Students who arrive for breakfast are expected to remain inside the cafeteria until they are dismissed at approximately 7:40 a.m. Playground Supervisors will assist our younger students by taking them directly to their classrooms.
⏰ Not Eating Breakfast? Please Arrive at 7:40 a.m. or Later
If your student is not planning to eat breakfast at school, please do not have them arrive before 7:40 a.m. if you are unable to stay with them. Adult supervision outside of the cafeteria is not available until 7:40 a.m.
👋 Saying Goodbye at the Gate
We know that the first day can bring big emotions for students and families. If you anticipate needing a little extra time to say goodbye, please park in a designated parking space and walk with your student to the gate.
Please be prepared to say your goodbyes at the gate. Our staff will be outside and ready to welcome students, help ease those first-day jitters, and make sure students safely find their classroom or class line.
📋 Data Confirmation
If you have not completed Data Confirmation, please stop by the school office. Data Confirmation must be completed before you will be able to see your student's teacher assignment.
🍎 TK & Kindergarten Families
Parents and guardians of TK and Kindergarten students, please remember that there is an orientation tomorrow morning inside the students' classrooms. Following orientation, your student will leave with you for the day.
❤️ We're Ready to Welcome You!
Thank you for helping us make tomorrow morning run smoothly. We look forward to seeing everyone and having a fantastic first day of school!
